History
In 1939 Martien and Rie van der Valk opened a restaurant together in Voorschoten. With hard work and a welcoming, homely approach their business was a success.
In the years after the Second World War they and their 11 children built a number of restaurants.
Even today, the vision of hospitality of Martien and Rie is the basis of the successful "Van der Valk formula". Their attitude and entrepreneurial spirit is an example for younger "Valk" generations.
Family business
Meanwhile the company of their grandchildren and great grandchildren developed into the largest catering company in the Netherlands with 59 branches and another 25 hotels in countries around the world.
In November 2010, the book "Van der Valk, the turbulent history of a Dutch hospitality family" was published, which describes the historical milestones and gives an insight into the Van der Valk family.
